My fingertips are holding onto the cracks in our foundation, And I know that I should let go, but I can't. And every time we fight I know it's not right, Every time that you're upset and I smile. I know I should forget, but I can't. Music pounding into her ear drums, the red head entered the mall. Music always made her feel better, or on some occasions, worse. An it had a knack of finding songs when placed on shuffle that fit her exact mood or thoughts. An, today was no different. Kate Nash, her British voice singing into her ears, made Skylark want to cry and hit something all at the same time. This song fit her life...her old life all too well. She couldn't forget about him No matter how many years passed or how many times she drove him from her mind. He was like.. .... a leech, sucking the life from me. It's like I can't breathe Without you inside of me. And I know I let you have all the power. And I realize I'm never gonna quit you over time Damn songs and their tendency's to make her feel like shit. He was, like a leech to her, Kelly Clarkson got that song right about him. Skylark ran a hand along her long red hair before taking out her ear buds and turning off her Ipod. She couldn't handle any more music. It generally kept her thoughts from Dean. But not today. Thankfully a little comfort food would help Skylark focus on the here and now a bit more so than say shopping at American Eagle. Shopping for clothes in stores that like were not her thing. She preferred Macy's and a few clothes from Hot Topic and Rave. She hated to even walk past the perfume filled stores with their music pumping. Skylark walked down to the food court and got a medium fry at the McDonalds, and looked herself up and down. Black tennis shoes, blue jeans, A shirt from Hot Topic that as yellow and had Pikachu on it, and over that was a black jacket vest looking shirt she had gotten from Hot Topic a while ago. She could use another pair of jeans here soon, but with her mother getting a raise and a higher placement in the workplace, Skyalrk figured that she and her mother would spend some good ol' mother daughter time, which they both needed. Having your mother work two jobs for the past three years and still have hardly all the bills payed and than having you, become a corner girl to help make ends meet and have a bit left over, didn't qualify for much mother and daughter time. Skylark had been able to prostitute herself easily because, she was desperate for the money and her mom had worked all day and all night half the time, that when she wasn't working, she didn't notice Sky was gone. Of course, when bills did get payed and her mother had first realized there was more money coming in, Sky had told her questioning mother that she had walked some dogs, and cleaned some lawns here and there. It wasn't until Dean had let her go that Sky told her mother the truth. An that was after Dean had given her a raise and a bit extra when he did let her go. Sky didn't understand why Dean had let her go...Maybe he wanted her to be happier and he had taken her in because pf the situation and he knew how that felt...Or he had gotten bored with her. Sky wouldn't accept the second idea. She couldn't. She loved Dean. He;d never get bored with her. Dean was her guardian angel, her lifeboat, and she could never and would never be able to repay him for all he had done. Now, Sky wasn't proud that she had sold herself, but she was proud when she saw her mother's face and health start to come back. Both woman had been slightly sickly during the hard times and had lost some weight, but soon their health was restored and they looked happier. Although that small pride in Sky was washed away when her mother began sobbing and wishing her daughter hadn't done that to save them. Sky had wrapped an arm around her mother and tried to make her okay with it. Sky's mom couldn't really see her daughter normally after she learned what she had done, but they were still close, her mother was just scared now that Sky would jump back in that job line if anything slipped, like money or just about anything..Grades even. Which pushed Sky to do even better in school, and it pushed her mother to do better in her jobs. Skylark sighed as she had pretty much circled the mall twice and was done with the food, so she threw it away. She thought about getting her Ipod out again, but deiced not to take the risk. So, she just sat down on a nearby wooden bench and people watched.

they'll remember only our smiles , - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -It was a matter of boredom that Ash had ended up in the mall in the first place. He wasn't in the mall because he had nothing else to do, though. Rather, he'd smoked through his last pack of cigarettes out of boredom and used up the last of his lighter fluid with it. Ash wasn't the kind of avid smoker who smoked a pack each day and he'd been absolutely astounded to realize that there were no more cigarettes left anywhere in his apartment. So this, of course, required a trip to the CVS in the mall in order to restock for the next couple of weeks so that he didn't have to go on another adventure to the mall any time soon. It wasn't that he didn't like the mall, but well, Ash really didn't like the mall. He somehow ended up there quite often as he rarely had anything else to do besides abuse his pain medications, drink himself into a stupor, eat pizza or smoke til his lungs caught fire. And while the other options were all very amusing, there got to be a point when locking yourself in your apartment and doing your best to wreck your body just didn't cut it as interesting anymore. Well, there was that point and also the point where you had to restock on items to wreck your body with. Speaking of wrecked bodies, Ash thought as he went into CVS, I'm pretty sure that I have a prescription here waiting for me. But first, Ash went to the front check out counter and bought a pack of Camels, an orange plastic lighter and a Snickers bar for good measure. Ash had never quite gotten the hang of refilling his lighters and he normally just bought a new one whenever he ran out.
And then he went through the hassle of getting his prescription and being told to come back in thirty to forty five minutes for it. Half-frustrated, Ash left CVS and went to McDonalds. As a general rule, Ash didn't care for McDonalds. The food was too greasy and he was always scared that he'd find a mouse in his burger, but the fries were fine and the milkshakes weren't bad. When he was small, Ash's mother, Cameron, had always told him about how if he thought he liked McDonalds french fries now, he should have had them when Cameron was a teenager. Apparently, they'd been absolutely to die for until some fucker had changed the recipe. Of course, Ash was paraphrasing. Cameron would never have used the word 'fucker' and 'McDonalds french fries' in the same breath. To Cameron, McDonalds french fries had always been sacred. She'd loved the way the smelled and tasted and burned your tongue when you ate them too soon. Ash had always preferred his french fries dipped in his milkshake, which was consequently exactly the way he was eating them now.
Once the fries were gone, Ash balanced the milkshake on his lap, keeping the corner of his eye on it to make sure it didn't spill, and he decided to head back to CVS. Even if they weren't ready for him yet, he could at least hassle the employees there until the time came for him to pick up his prescription. As it turned out, the prescription was not ready and the employees didn't appreciate being hassled, so Ash left CVS and noticed Skylark. All he knew of her was that she was one of those sophomore girls that flew so low under his radar, he hardly even recognized her as a fellow human being. As far as Ash was concerned, the sophomores were as good as freshmen to him and the freshmen were as good as dust. He should've been graduated already, and in college as well. Anyone whom he met that he wouldn't have regularly met while in high school was virtually worthless to hm. But Skylark was pretty. She had gorgeous red hair and a hot body that Ash would bet could do some serious shit. She looked far more mature than just fifteen or sixteen or however old she was. She didn't look like a sophomore and that was pretty much the only reason why Ash had bothered to remember her name. Plus, it sounded nice in his mind and on his tongue. Almost as nice as Skylark looked.
"Hey," Ash said, wheeling himself over towards the girl, who was sitting on a bench alone, as far as Ash could tell. He'd never really spoken to her, but he had thirty minutes--according to the CVS pharmacist--to kill before he could even go anywhere and at least Skylark was someone to talk to. At least Ash wouldn't be bored out his mind talked to her. Well, he hoped that he wouldn't be bored talking to her, though he doubted anyone with such an amazing hair colour would be anything close to boring. And she had a look in her eye that Ash couldn't quite pin down, but he knew it was nothing close to boring. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - because that's all that they see ,words || 848 muse || pretty good music || dust bowl dance - mumford and sons notes || sorry that my attention span is worse than that of a goldfish. so everything's kind of disjointed. sorry!! credits || this template was made by cazicat?! and no one should steal it. the lyrics go to the approaching curve by rise against.

Hey
Skylark turned her head as she watched someone sit down by her. What was his name? Ash? Ashley? He was older than her, and she had only seen him once or twice. Skylark had managed to stay under almost everyone's radar. But not his apparently. He remembered her name. Than again, with her hair and her name, she was hard to forget. "Hey. Ash right?" Skylark asked as she watched him intently. Why was he talking to her all of a sudden? Guys really only talked to her if they wanted something. An knowing guys, they wanted sex. Skylark decided to give the guy a chance. Maybe he was different? "I'm Skylark. Looks like we both have a taste for McDonald's." Skylark said as she popped the very last fry in her mouth and ate it.
Skylark thought about school, had she ever talked to Ash? She could honestly say she hadn't. In fact, she hadn't spoken to really anyone. She kind of preferred it like that. No one could get too close to her and judge her. She gave Ash a small shy smile and waited for his reply.
