Charming: She will wrap you in at any moment and you won't be able to get away. She has this way about her that teases someone a bit but makes them feel like you're entering an old friends arms. Hope knows how to work a room and being the center of attention isn’t her goal...ever but her witty jokes and confidence draw people to her.
Mysterious: She may make someone feel like she's your oldest friend but what do you truly know about her? Hope is a queen at keeping her secrets private and making sure people know who she is in the present. She isn't a woman of the past and likes to keep those memories in her journal. If she even lets a little thing slip then she'll hide with a little fib. It's not an issue of trust most of the time, it's the issue of hearing the worst moments of her life rehashed. Often times Hope wants to hide from the reality of her life. But there are those people she feels completely comfortable around but it's not often.
Intense: When Hope gets angry she doesn't hold back. When she wants to get a message across she knows what to say and how to say it. Her angry side is actually pretty scary but it takes a little more than usual to make her get to that point. It's like someone else enitrely takes over her body. When someone annoys her she just get's very stern with them and makes them go away.
Intelligent: When Hope opens her mouth she knows what she's talking about. She rarely ever speaks before thinking but it does happen to her. Under stressful situations its understanable that she might loose her train of thought. But that's once in a blue moon for Hope. She loves school and enjoys being knowledgable on anything she possibly can.
Loyal: You know when someone tells a friend, “But you can't tell anyone!”. There's no point in saying that to Hope. She will hold onto what anyone tells her and not tell a soul if they wouldn't want her to. She will stick by someones side if they deserve her loyalty and defend them if she believes in them. She'll do her best to be there when a friend needs her and support them in even their stupidest endeavors. She'll catch them when they fall when that plan fails but make them laugh about how crazy it truly was. But if it's really dumb Hope gives pretty good advice and will do what she can to prevent any harm coming to a friend. Her friends are all she has and she works hard trying to preserve that.
Damaged: Sometimes if one looks hard enough into Hope's eyes when shes deep in thought you can tell just how much pain she puts herself through. She forces herself to work through things alone and not let people worry about her well being or her problems. She wants to get things done by herself but it wears her down sometimes. She needs to learn how to ask for help. She can be extremely stubborn when her friends want to help her.
Unflappable: There isn't much that can get Hope to the point of screaming and getting truly angry. She has a secret interest in boxing. It helps her get any anger out instead of on people she cares about. She's been doing that for years so by now she can kick anyone's ass. People have tried to push Hope's buttons but she just doesn't care. She could ignore the existence of people for days if she truly wanted to. There is a few exceptions, as with any normal human being.
Passionate: Hope loves writing, painting, reading, photography, comics, fashion, playing music, and many other things. She is so dedicated to being the best she can be and won't stop for anyone. On the flip side, Hope is passionate in the sense that when she's in love, she is all in. She gives all of her heart to the person she knows won't break it...or at least will try their hardest in the long run. Hope doesn't give that responsibility and trust to anyone but she is a passionate lover in every sense of the word. She does hookup because well...it's fun. But when she's in a committed relationship then she does what she can to be the best for them.
Honest: Those who cannot handle the truth may call Hope a bitch but it's okay with her. She believes in the honesty and telling people what's on her mind. But she has a filter and there are many times that she will shut up if it's not her place or if she might go over the line. But she will blunt with just about anyone and won't hide something from anyone if they're asking her. She appreciates honesty greatly. One of the worst things someone could do to her is to lie.
the history!
Hope Summers was born and raised in New York City with two parents who seemed perfect. To the outside world she was a happy child with only the worry of what dress she would wear to that dinner or the shoes for that tea with relatives. Yes, that's partly true. As a child she was okay because her parents hadn't begun fighting until she was 10. Her mother was not from the social life that her father had been raised in. Luke Summers, her father, was a lawyer with a well known firm in the city. He was always surrounded by the richest of the rich and the people that would cut your throat in a second if they needed to. Her mother, Rose Keller, on the hand was from the other side of the spectrum. She was a florist when she first met Luke and gave that up in order to live the high life, the life he couldn't escape. She wanted to be with him but couldn't stand the constant looks and pressure of living in a society that he was apart of. She wanted out. But then came Hope an there was no way of leaving. A small part of Hope always believed that Rose held it against her daughter for her sad life.
Once Hope turned the age of when she could comprehend the conversations around her she realized how much her home and her family were screwed up. She turned out to be a very chill, young girl who didn't care much for the fancy parties but rather writing, reading, and hanging out with friends. She had turned out the way her mother had wanted her but Rose still wasn't happy. Hope, obviously being a young curious girl, wondered what she was doing wrong. Her father was so busy with work that it was all up to her mother to do everything around the house and with Hope. For weeks at a time Hope wouldn't see her father due to his job but one day he was at their house saying goodbye. He was leaving to California for work and the amount of time was undecided. Hope barely had time to even say a real goodbye before someone came up and got his bags. The socialites congratulated Luke and bid him farewell and he left NYC forever. The socialites didn't care anymore about his poor wife and daughter because we weren't the main focus of their time anymore. They needed to find someone else to pay attention to.
While battling depression Rose attempted to keep it together as the man she dropped everything for dropped her for what he truly wanted. While Luke cared most about his career Rose felt like her life was left behind for some other lifetime. As the years went on Hope noticed the sleeping pills and anti-depressants which was alright with her. She was a smart girl and knew that taking the pills would help her mother. But other things started to show up around her mothers bedroom. Little packets of white powder and to a young mind it made no sense. What was this new substance and why did her mother have it? She was only 13 but as things got progressively worse Hope matured faster than anyone could help. She had to find things out on herself, take herself to school, feed herself, and anything else her mother was now un-capable of doing. Her mother was so far gone that Hope had given up on any hope. At the age of 13 her mother finally left. Hope was so mature and strong for her age that her mother, in her lost mind, believed Hope would be okay. Leaving the bank account information Rose ran away to a world she thought was waiting for her too.
Hope told her grandparents, her mothers parents, and what had been happening. They weren't close to their daughter but kept in contact with Hope. Jean and Keith Keller moved from California temporarily to take care of Hope until she finished high school. They turned into the parents she never had.
At the age of 15 Hope turned to alcohol and partying, like many teenagers struggling with issues. She had friends who were heavily involved with that type of behavior and just threw herself into it. Hope was soon becoming known as the bad ass, no bullshit girl who knew how to hang out and have a good time. Guys knew she would play with their heart but they still found their way to her. She had this carefree attitude about her but really she was still stuck in the mindset that she only needed to care for herself. She just wanted to forget about the world for a few hours.
She took out some of her anger in writing and painting which gained her praise from teachers. One in specific, Mr. Loman gave her a nudge towards programs and art shows she could attend. During the beginning of high school she won a few awards for her paintings, essays, short stories, and creative writing. She was doing what she loved and for that smidgen of time she was doing it, Hope felt okay with the world. High school began to be that time when Hope began to realize there as more good out there than she was giving the world credit for. That good existed but she had to find it and make it known. But sadly, it didn't erase the pain she was going through on a daily basis. The intense partying got worse until her grandfather finally told her to end it. He shook her and stared into her eyes until Hope responded. She knew she had to but the ache in her heart would not go away. Hope let him shake the sense into her until she came to accept that she was slowly turning into her mother.
It was not a 'quit cold turkey' type of situation but over the time span of a few months Hope found her footing. She started to laugh and smile more which lead to her writing becoming even better. She was pursuing what she wanted while putting her emotional stress into it as well. Her confidence grew and she learned that having a good time doesn't mean drinking hardcore. She tries her hardest to stay away from people who live in that lifestyle but her personality tends to draw her closer to them. Hope just wants to prevent herself falling down the same path and falling into a rabbit hole of depression. Hope still drinks and has a long way to go until she gets to a place of complete closure of her childhood.
Hope finished off her junior year strong with high honors but wasn't enjoying her time in New York anymore. She loved it but everything was a constant reminder of who left her. Each day she passed her mothers empty bedroom and felt that sting in her chest. So she decided to leave a year before she graduates in order to end her senior year strong. She moved in with her grandparents and is going to attend the local high school.
